Hi all,

We had a quieter week this week as it was half term!
Monday we split the junior class up into groups and worked in basics and also worked on their basic blocks and counters and we finished off on the bags. The young juniors are just starting to understand the techniques and how to execute them correctly. For the second session we did a session on the bags, worked in pairs on set pieces then split up to work on senior katas. The junior grades are looking a lot better with regards to their kata knowing which direction and techniques needed but just need to work on stances and sharpness.
Tuesday night we worked the group together on set techniques on the bags working on stamina and balance and control using multi techniques, it proved challenging but got the students concentrating on technique rather than power strikes. We finished the class working on kata my group need some work on stances but otherwise there is sign of improvement.
Thursday session was relatively quiet so we got the dojo mat out and worked on sparring and getting used to attacking but most importantly the defence using blocks and moving into position ready for counter attacks, it was a good exercise and I could see everyone enjoyed the session. For the senior class we worked on self defence techniques like single grabs, double grabs, attack from behind, and lunging attacks from being kicked or punched or even stabbing and we had to react quickly with a counter block and techniques to disable the attacks. It was a good session and gave a different perspective to our sport and it is a session on realistic attacks and being able to defend yourselves in a situation.

That’s it from me, see you guys soon
Have a good one!

Pete
